A lot of times you will go out and the fish are not on the surface. This is why I bought some jet divers. They replace a down rigger and bring your lure or bait into the strike zone. You can buy them at different depths from 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 feet. I picked up two 30's and two 40's. There are other brands out there that have a quick release. So next time they are not on top I will drop in and see who's home. When the water temp is above 60 they are 50 feet or less.

Phil

After seeing this i picked up 3 20's to try out.

Can these replace trolling sinkers when running Macks or bluefish lures? I'd like to try something else than swaging lead.

Thanks
Steve

Looks like they are a modification of a planar so I don't see why they wouldn't work for mack & blues. I'm going to have to pick up a 10 & 20 and give them a shot since a #1 planar seems to pick up bottom debris if I'm in less than 20' of water. I've been using 3 & 4 oz trolling weights in 15-20' with success but I'm pretty sure they're no more than a few feet below the surface.

Do these things not cause massive drag? Even with bibbed lures, I worry about the amount of pressure put on rod holders.

that was my concern also B..

i use the flush mount holders when trolling so i am hoping that those hold up better than any rocket launcher-type.. at this point, i am using 3-ish oz trolling sinkers and run between 3 and 6 mph.. (85 gm, and 5 - 10 kph, all approx and for our metric brothers lolol)

I troll at about the same speed with the FX HO on No Wake Mode, 5 mph/4-4.4 knots depending on conditions, and my drag is set pretty light with a Penn Squall LW20 combo. I'd guess a 20 diver would be about the same drag as a #1 planar and I'm not very worried about my rod holder or rack if it's secured properly. Wanting to go deeper with a larger rig could become an issue but I don't have plans to troll that deep. I'll try and get a picture of my rod running a planar this week.

Here's a link to a pic with a #1 Planar at 5 mph on a 6' medium power, med-fast action rod. https://photos.app.goo.gl/dTeZdAIphYBkE0fE3

I get a little more flex with 3 oz trolling sinkers and Clark Spoons but Rods vary, even with similar spec labels.

MY entire salmon season up here I run divers on the troll, some people will run down riggers to get down to he chinook if they are holding lower (75-120 FOW). I've had really good luck with the delta divers, though they dont really have a defined depth setting, and i'm rarely fishing deeper then 30 feet. I'll have to take a look at these, thank you!
