Best place for Bass fishing in Houston..

Hey guys,

I live in the sugarland area and was wondering where I can go for some nice bass fishing that isn't too far... Please advise and please be specific with DIRECTIONS rather than just saying "lake conroe".

I haven't been out to any of the lakes, only saltwater fishing offshore and at the jetty's in Texas city and Freeport, but want to start trying out something different...

I used to do nothing BUT bass fishing, but it was a little further north so I can't really help ya. But if you get onto some good saltwater fish, you'll throw rocks at bass. IMHO that is. I only want to get offshore into some 80 lb. Ling again. LOL

Don't know much about Lake Conroe. If I want to catch bass, I go to the cooling lake in Fayetteville. Put in at the public boat ramp and go across the lake and towards the right. If you go to far, the water temperature gets too hot. There is a lot of grass beds and other areas with structure on the far side. Explore the coves or creek outlets. I usually do pretty good on artificials. All of the regulars swear that the best live bait is waterdogs. I've never used them. They look like overgrown salamanders! The local bait shops have them. Early mornings are better. Remember that the lake is a cooling lake for the electric generating plant. Once the water gets too hot, the fish quit biting.

Have you got your Pwc set up with a trolling motor and such? I'm new at the waverunner fishing but I love to bass fish. I need to add a trolling motor and battery. My platinum products rack has a mount for it but I haven't finished rigging it out yet.
